Title: New ZSR, Editors Needed!
Post by: mzxrules on May 08, 2013, 04:42:30 AM
Now that the new site is finally up, we are in need of editors to write and edit pages for the site. We are accepting editors for ANY zelda game (except Link's Crossbow Training ::), and possibly Hyrule Warriors), not just the ones that currently appear on the drop down list.

If you are interested in contributing, post what games you will be willing to write tricks for, and provide some evidence that you know the game. I also suggest asking an existing editor to recommend you.

Not that I can find them (Glitches, etc), but I'm willing to clean up and write up pages for anything people want to throw at me. Not that you guys probably need that.

I would be more than glad to help! I know OoT and MM pretty well and have been starting to look into other Zlelda games too. I also am decently savvy with webpage coding and such :)

I know MM and TP pretty well and have done runs of both of them, so I could probably help with those pages.

You should be able to edit MM/TP pages now Ing.

I'd be willing to write for Link's Awakening and Link's Awakening DX.  I'm more experienced in DX than B&W (just got a WR on 100% DX last night), but the tricks are mostly the same, with a few exceptions, and I do have some experience in the B&W version as well.

Cranson, you can now edit LA and DX pages. If there really are only a minimal amount of differences (like OoT's MQ), I'd say just edit the DX site.

We've already decided to edit the LA site only  ;D

That works. I hope to see some LA pages soon

Title: Re: New ZSR, Editors Needed!

Does this include rewording pages or adding visual cues to help with the explanations? For OoT, I think that some pages may address things that are no longer relevant as a use. And some pages have very technical explanations that may confuse newcomers. I think there may be ways to rewrite certain pages to make them easier to understand (without oversimplifying). RBA and Wrong Warp come to mind. Wrong Warp (at least the basics of why it works) shouldn't be so hard for people to understand, but I think they are put off by all the technical info. The RBA page could use more visual aids, like pictures of the inventory highlighting certain parts that are relevant to the explanation, or pictures of the items instead of just values and loads of charts. And bring back the RBA calculator!

I don't know if I'm capable of doing any of these things, but it's a suggestion. It really seems like just linking the RBA page to someone who doesn't understand the glitch hardly helps them at all. They just end up more confused.

I'd like to be a MM editor, there are a bunch of things in need of updating and adding to that. Other than MM, I can do TWW, SS and Phantom Hourglass if there is nobody else to do it.

You could make me an OoT editor if you want but I'm very lazy so I probably won't edit anything >_>.

I was an editor before the site got revamped. I'd be happy to edit wind waker and a bit of tp stuff.

I'd be happy to be an editor for OoT, I'm fairly new to ZSR so there's not much proof I can provide of that, but once I get a new controller, I can post pics of my GC 100% saves, and I'm currently working on an any% route.

i'd like to update the wind waker section of ZSR and the only proof i got is that i wrote an any% route and i'm currently 10th on the any% leaderboard.

i don't know the exact routes for the newer superswims post-windtemple but i'll add them when i know them

I've been (and still am) throwing up pages on the LttP section. I'm not sure if you were just looking for people to upload pages here for submission (like I've been doing) or if you're actually handing out editor privileges, but if you are doing the later it could save mzx some time if you promoted me. Just a thought.

i'd like to access the wind waker pages
i've been around a while and know quite a lot about it due to various tests and low% goofs

I would like to apply for editor on both, Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass pages. I have done runs of both games as well as I am knowledgeable about the two.

Title: Re: New ZSR, Editors Needed!
Post by: nathanisbored on September 13, 2013, 09:50:07 PM
Umm, I don't exactly know what I have to prove it, but I know a lot about technical details of OoT (how RBA works, side effects of certain sequence breaks, wrong warp a little bit, etc.). I don't know much about specific setups and strategies, but I think I can still be helpful. I've noticed a few things on some OoT pages that are a little outdated or misleading, so I would like to apply for OoT editing powers I guess.

Ok so Pokemonrocks you've been made editor for Phantom Hourglass / Spirit Tracks. Nate you've got OoT access. Everyone with Windwaker access now has Wind Waker HD access. Feiqn I just added you as editor for Link to the Past.

When I'm first learning a trick, I find it really helps to have visual aids to be able to see the trick done in real time. I feel that MM sections especially are lacking videos and are outdated. I can make videos of some new strats to help out the site. Here's an example of what I could do:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqzQJq0ipe8

I would appreciate being made editor for OoT and MM.

I could take care of the ALBW section. I've already provided some screenshots for a few of the tricks, but I could also write up some descriptions and keep stuff updated. :)

Hi, I'd like to be an editor for The Wind Waker. There haven't been many edits recently, and I noticed that a lot of pages had some really outdated or wrong information or were completely empty, so I'd like to help to get most of these pages up to date since I know a lot about TWW (I made most of current Any% route).

Can I be a tmc editor? there are like 4 tmc pages that are not "under construction" and we only have 1 non-global editor to deal with it

edit: I can also be an oot and mm editor if we're short but those aren't really as pressing

I'm not sure how much time has to go into being an editor, but I've noticed that many of the pages for OoT display outdated strats or don't show certain useful tricks at all. For newcomers given the ZSR link as a source of learning tricks, this might put them at a disadvantage. Anyway, I'll consider doing this depending on how you feel about it.

I would like to keep sum of the Twilight Princess Sites up2date. Actually the stuff is in pretty good shape but are several tricks which are not documented and I guess we could some basic stuff on generell movement, attack patterns etc.

I guess some of the better known runners like Mofat, Dragonbane or Viva can vouch for me if needed.
Otherwise I will submit a time for any% sooner or later.

I'd like to be added as an editor for the Link's Awakening (and DX) community.  I currently have a very high standing on the ZSR leaderboard for LADX and participate/help frequently in the weekly races we hold.  I also have created a video tutorial on my YouTube to explain and teach runners about Piece of Power mechanics in the LA games.  I also am a programmer by day, so I would be familiar with whatever CMS/HTML you are using to handle page creation.  If needed, Tompa, Mabdulra, or any of the top LADX runners can vouch for me.

I would like to start beefing up the LA pages here on ZSR to help new runners learn the game easier.  One of my goals is to create a "trick" and "back up strat" library of sorts with video/text descriptions for them.  I used ZSR a lot when learning and was saddened with the lack of content for LA.  I know Mab was also working on a text guide for new runners and I would like to help him out with that when I can too.

I'd Like to become an Editor for Link's Awakening (and DX) because there is only one written route for the entire game and there are a lot of new tricks that are crucial to the routes that haven't made their way to the page yet. I have a top 10 time in the main Category and a tied WR in the glitched any% category

I feel like the LA Pages don't contain nearly enough info and the new runners are confused as to what to do because there are new routes and a lot of new strats that arent on the page. If needed any of the top runners (zorlax, Leon, Greentunic) could recommend me ;)

Is it too late to want to be an editor for MM3D? I'm seeing some errors in some pages. One example is Snowhead Temple's page. It says that to action swap, after pulling out hookshot, you press the stick button then tatl button afterward. That's correct, but the following could be worded better. It says press the stick and target, then let go of the stick. If someone follow that to the letter, they'll end up failing it.

I've been very active in MM3D, and I've written the Epona Skip Route (https://docs.google.com/document/d/162QRlTdy-DfgVrvyOBmQ2vUiN9lweoFQnwap33hL8_U/edit?usp=sharing). I assume BenStephens and I both used it in our runs.

I'd like to be an editor for The Wind Waker so I can edit pages and help bring them up-to-date as well as make them look more clean. I've been working with The Wind Waker for almost two years now. If any proof is needed to verify this, I currently have the top time on ZSR and am working towards sub 4. You can also visit my YT to find all kinds of videos of things I'd like to add to ZSR where applicable. https://www.youtube.com/user/Cha0ticAce/videos
